Peter’s Mill Pre-Father’s Day Run!

We decided a fun way to kick off the Father’s Day weekend would be a nice relaxed ride out to Peter’s Mill Run for a pre-fathers day ride!

Attendees:

  • Jendra, Aimee, Arya, Kiran – Jeep Gladiator Mojave
  • John & Brother – Jeep Gladiator Rubicon
  • Bill – Jeep Gladiator Mojave
  • Jason – Jeep Wrangler 4xe
  • Dawn – 4Runner
  • Michael – Bronco
  • Javi – FJ Cruiser
  • Clinton – Jeep Wrangler
  • Chase & Connor – Rivian R1S
  • James – Land Rover Range Rover Sport

We all met at the 7-11 in Woodstock, to get our day passes for the ride. They are just 5 bucks per vehicle, but are required for Peter’s Mill. After getting that sorted, we had a quick drivers meeting, and then headed towards the trailhead.

Once there, we pulled into the ATV parking lot, and aired our tires down. We then crossed the road to the actual Peter’s Mill Run Trail. It was our first time taking the Gladiator out, and we were looking forward to its first time off-road!

After about 10 minutes winding our way up the trail, Miguel noticed his engine temps starting to rise. We pulled off the side of the trail, and opened it up to investigate. There was no clear culprit, but the radiator was about a gallon low on coolant. So, we topped him off, and he turned around to get back to the trail to head out. Miguel nursed his truck back home, the higher speeds of the highway helping him get home, but as soon as he got home, and started driving slower, the temps started to rise again. So something is clearly grumpy, but luckily he made it home.

After Miguel rolled out, we continued on. It was a lovely ride. The last time we were out there, they had graded a lot of the trail, but it looks like it’s eroded back down a little, so it was more interesting than in the past. Still not challenging, but a pleasant drive.

We stopped for lunch in the big clearing, which gave the kids the chance to break out the RC 4x4s! After a nice relaxed break, we continued on.

After rolling our way through the woods, we got to the end, where we aired back up. A few of us then rolled into Woodstock, where we went to the Woodstock Brewhouse, a nice pub in town, to wrap up the day. It was nice, food was great, and it was nice catching up with everyone and talking about the day, and past/future adventures! Thanks everyone for making it a great trip!
