Just for fun, CORE organized a last minute day trip to Peters Mill. It’s a trail in the Blue Ridge outside of Edinberg, VA. It’s particularly good for new folks. It is definitely off-roading, more than just a poorly maintained dirt road, but the rocks, ditches etc. can be handled with a stock 4×4. It’s also the closest of the trails we frequent – about an hour and 45 minutes from DC. We do it as a day trip.
Here are the details:
Participants:

We met at the parking lot (38°47’20.8″N 78°31’10.3″W or 38.789111, -78.519528) at 11AM Sat 4/23. We aired down our tires, made introductions and were on the trial a little after 11AM. The trail is about 6.5 mile up Powell Mountain. We had lunch at the turn around point.
After lunch most of the group headed home. The trail has access to a paved road at the turn around point. Mike and Brian decided to run the trail back the 6.5 miles to the parking lot we started at. It was a good time and even the two Jeeps that ran both directions, were aired up and on the road by 4PM.
