On a beautiful and pleasantly warm winter day, the CORE Club held its annual holiday party at Green Ridge State Forest. Matt and Andy did an early scout of the campsite to make sure it was available before I led a group from the Ranger Station HQ into the woods. I had picked up a catering order from Oak Barrel Cafe for the party before meeting everyone at HQ. Once we got positive confirmation that the site was available, we got into convoy and headed into the forest.
After a short pleasant drive, we got to the site where Andy was waiting with a good supply of firewood, and a lit fire. It was party time! The group helped me unload the truck, and get things rolling.
The food was great, and everyone seemed to have a good time, chatting about any and everything, including the awesome year we had in 2023 as a club. After getting some food in our bellies, a couple of the children (both old and young!) got out our RC 4×4 vehicles and started ripping! My kids have some slower and more manageable ones, I broke out a new faster one, but then Andrew unleashed a monster of a 4×4 RC, and started ripping back and forth! It was a blast.
Matt did a little show and tell on his awesome new 4Runner. I bet he’s looking forward to putting some offroad trail miles on it! We also got to check out Sam’s new Rivian. It’s going to be fun having him and his R1S on the trails with us!
After hanging out with everyone around the fire, folks started to trickle out. It was an awesome day, and we are fortunate to have such a great group to spend time with. Thanks to everyone for coming out!
